The Nizamuddin Dargah is dedicated to the Sufi saint of the Chisti Order, Khawaja Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, Who lived in the 14th century (1238 -1325). Khawaja Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliy was a firm believer in god, known for his piety and wisdom. His teachings emphasized love and service to humanity. The Dargah is also known as Nizamuddin Auliya Mazar in Delhi. It lies in the south region of Delhi. It is one of the historic places in Delhi.

Along with Khawaja Nizamuddin Auliya, the complex contains the tombs of Mughal Princess Inayat Khan, the poet Amir Khusro, Shah Jahan’s daughter Jehan Ara Begum and Ziauddin Barani and Muhammad Shah are also buried here. 

In 2010 Aga Khan Trust renovated the dargah. But the ancientness and sufi touch and atmosphere are not disturbed. It is believed that any wish asked from the heart at the dargah will be granted, regardless of the person’s religion.

  4. For men, when you enter the dargah, cover your head with a piece of cloth. Women can carry a stole or dupatta to cover the head while offering prayers. Please dress modestly and maintain decorum, as it is a sacred place.
